Our History
Rooted in a legacy of four generations of farming, our journey began in 1971 with the establishment of SONA TRADERS by our inspiration, Late Mr. Kesarichand Katakwar, as a wholesale trader of staple commodities and a flaxseed oil manufacturer. Over the decades, the business evolved from a local grain trader into a respected name in the agricultural industry. In 1979, we established our first Rice Mill in Amgaon, Maharashtra, strengthening our presence in the rice sector. As the business grew, we diversified into the entertainment industry by developing one of the region's largest movie theatres. Our transparent approach to business has earned the trust of our suppliers and customers, driving steady growth and laying the foundation for the legacy we continue to uphold today.
We believe that "We should always remember our roots because they are the foundation of our life and the wings of our future" and hence we continue to be actively involved in traditional farming, cultivating premium paddy rice and organic fresh fruits and vegetables across more than 30 hectares of fertile agricultural land and backed by over 50 years of experience in rice, fresh fruits, vegetables, coconuts, and Indian spices, we have built strong and lasting relationships with farmers, manufacturers, and trusted suppliers. Late Mr. Kesarichand Katakwar was a farmer from a small village in Gondia district of Maharsahtra and started his entrepreneur journey in 1971. His commitment to transparency and ethics became the foundation and inspiration for all future generations.
